The band was formed in 1993 at a music education education workshop run by Aniruddha Das and by John Pandit, when rapper Deeder Zaman. joined and recorded the sound-system based Conscious EP. Guitarist Steve Chandra Savale and Sanjay Tailor soon joined, and their debut album Facts and Fictions was released in late 1995. With the UK music scene fixated with Britpop in the mid 90s, ADF gained more attention in France and Europe, but soon they caught the attention of the legendary Primal Scream, who invited the group to support them on tour, and remixed the single 'Free Satpal Ram'.
The furious jungle-punk bomb 'Naxalite' was an ode to the militant Naxalite movement in India. The band remain active all these years later, although the line-up has undergone a few changes. Having released eight studio albums, their ninth is due for release at some point this year.
