Insane drill n bass classic, featuring the most sinister music video ever made. This 1997 single by Aphex Twin (aka Richard D. James) was a Top 10 hit in Denmark, and reached number 36 in the UK Singles Chart.
James said: "'Come to Daddy' came about while I was just hanging around my house, getting pissed and doing this crappy death metal jingle. Then it got marketed and a video was made, and this little idea that I had, which was a joke, turned into something huge. It wasn't right at all."
The terrifying video to accompany the totally batshit-crazy 'Come to Daddy' was directed by Chris Cunningham and filmed on the same council estate where many scenes from A Clockwork Orange were filmed. Party were filmed around the Tavy Bridge Shopping centre in Thamesmead, which was demolished in 2007. Much of the dark underground car parking featured is now gone.
Rather hilariously, Aphex Twin has just been nominated for a Brit Award, in the Best Male Category alongside the likes of Craig David, Sam Smith, George Ezra and Giggs. What unlikely company...
