20 YEARS AGO: Mercury Rev - Delta Sun Bottleneck Stomp

Released as a single in January 1999, this house-tinged closing track from Mercury Rev's acclaimed fourth album 'Deserter's Songs' peaked at number 26 on the UK Singles Chart. 

The album was released the previous year in September 1998, earning huge critical acclaim from the British music press and featuring high in many end-of-year lists.

The group's most recent album 'The Light in You' was released in 2015 through Bella Union. It was their first studio album in seven years.
