With its hypnotic guitar pattern, drum machine and Aidan Moffat's evocative monologue, this classic debut single by Scottish indie duo Arab Strap was first released as a limited edition vinyl, then later on their first album 'The Week Never Starts Round Here', both released in 1996 on the Chemikal Underground label. It became a favourite of Steve Lamacq, who played it regularly on Radio One's Evening Session. The influential DJ once described the song as the "best of the decade and the most perfect pop song ever."
Arab Strap were an integral part of the Glasgow indie scene in the 90s, forming in 1994 and initially splitting in 2006. They reformed in 2016 and have played a number of gigs since.
