The marvellous 'Joe's Dream' is a track from 'The Bride', a recent album from Bat For Lashes, aka English singer songwriter Natasha Khan. It's a concept album that centres around the story of a bride travelling to her wedding only to discover that her husband-to-be has been killed in a car accident. After the tragedy, the album also follows the bride as she goes on the honeymoon alone and has to deal with the emotions. Khan commented that "the trauma and the grief from the death of Joe, the groom is more of a metaphor and it allows me to explore the concept of love in general, which requires a death of sorts." The Bride debuted at number nine on the UK Albums Chart, becoming Khan's third consecutive top-10 album.
God Is In The TV reviewed the album, giving it 8/10, commenting "Through its tale and analysis on romantic impermanence, there’s no denying that Bat For Lashes gives a multi-faceted and deep meaning to the wedding phrase “Till Death Do Us Part“". Read that review HERE.
