Track Of The Day: Robert Plant - 'Rainbow'

Impressed by his superb live performances and refusal to trap himself in the past or become a relic, Robert Plant's new album 'Lullaby And The Ceaseless Roar' is one that I've been looking forward to for a while. I'm about to listen to it for the first time, since the LP can currently be found streaming in full at NPR.org HERE. From it, here's the stunning, melodic and brightly uplifting 'Rainbow', which has recently been released as the album's lead single. 'Lullaby And The Ceaseless Roar' is the former Led Zeppelin legend's tenth solo album, and his first to feature the backing of his latest band The Sensational Space Shifters, who (interestingly) feature Liam 'Skin' Tyson, guitarist with 90s Britpop combo Cast. The album is released next week via Nonesuch Records.

  1. I've not been a fan of his solo stuff, apart from a few songs, but the album with Alison Kraus was great and this new one is shaping up to be as well. I do have the utmost respect for him for never resting on his Led Zeppelin reputation and laurels and always wanting to push ahead and make new and different music. As much as I love Jimmy Page, he continues to be stuck in the past and is unable or unwilling to move on. Plant shows the way to do it.
