20 YEARS AGO: Pulp - I'm A Man

Continuing our look at tracks from 1998's best albums, here's a pick from Pulp's post-Britpop hangover soundtrack 'This Is Hardcore'. 'I'm A Man' is probably one of the more more upbeat moments on the LP. On this rousing and underrated gem, Jarvis Cocker muses on the expectations of masculinity and the madness of it all.

'This Is Hardcore' took up the role of officially closing the curtains on the optimism of the 90s. Pulp would release their next LP 'We Love Life' a few years later before splitting. A comeback tour a decade later would produce no new songs or albums, aside from a newly recorded version of the old demo 'After You'. The group haven't performed since, but Cocker has been involved in a number of musical projects, including his latest, which is known as JARV.
