PREVIEW - The xx - Coexist

London trio The xx release their second album 'Coexist' on September 10.  Listen to the new track 'Angels' here. Scroll down to listen.

The band's Jamie Smith once again took on production duties on the album, which they began work on in early November 2011 before completing the sessions last month.

Posting on their Facebook page, The xx wrote: "It's been a long time since we've played you anything new. This song is called 'Angels', it is the first single from our new album, 'Coexist'. We've been playing this song live recently, so it feels good to share with you the version we've been working on for so long. We hope you like it. xx The xx".

The band have also just revealed cover artwork for 'Coexist', which you can see above, and also the tracklist for the album.

The 'Coexist' tracklisting is:

'Angels'
'Chained'
'Fiction'
'Try'
'Reunion'
'Sunset'
'Missing'
'Tides'
'Unfold'
'Swept Away'
'Our Song'

Speaking exclusively to NME previously about the new material, singer and guitarist Romy Madley Croft said the new songs show the evolution of the band over the past few years. "I've been thinking that I hope people enjoy it as a separate thing. The first album exists – we're not trying to make it again, she said, before adding: We've just grown up, and although this isn't a 'grown up' album, we’ve evolved. It's just us growing a bit more. I hope people enjoy it as a continuation, rather than us trying to make the first album again.
She added that although she's "happy we've progressed" the new material is "not prog rock".

The xx are set to play Bestival this September, as well as a string of other European festivals.

  2. Have you heard the album yet CJR? Must admit I'm not too impressed with it, but I have the feeling it's a grower...
