LISTEN TO: Grasscut - Unearth

A very impressive album which I was sent this week, and for me an introduction to a rather fine act. Grasscut are Andrew Phillips and Marcus O'Dair. Phillips is an award-winning film and television composer while O'Dair, also a journalist and broadcaster, contributes double bass, keyboards and military strategy. You can listen to the brand new album 'Unearth' for free via the Spotify player below...

According to their label Ninja Tune: "Grasscut are uniquely concerned with place, with location - Unearth features ten songs shaped by landscape and memory, each inspired by a specific location in Britain." Their debut album, '1 Inch: 1/2 Mile' was released on Ninja Tune, as was their latest 'Unearth', which saw the light of day last week (July 16th 2012). Grasscut have remixed Coldcut, Bonobo, Jaga Jazzist, Spokes and Voluntary Butler Scheme, while both Nathan Fake and Bibio have in turn re-worked Grasscut tracks. Look out for a review of this great record, coming to this blog soon...
