I first bought this album in late 1997 after hearing some rave reviews about it. In fact I actually borrowed a copy from Melksham Library and recorded it onto tape, eventually buying a CD copy a year or so later. 'Cool Waves' must be the track that had the biggest effect on me... "'Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space' is the third studio album by English space rock, dream pop and neo-psychedelia band Spiritualized, released by Dedicated Records on June 16, 1997. The album reached number four on the UK charts, during the height of the Britpop period. It attracted favourable reviews from the music press, including Allmusic, who hailed the album as "a masterpiece" and awarded the album 4.5 out of 5 stars. 'Ladies and Gentlemen...' went on to win the NME album of the year award at the end of 1997, beating Radiohead's critically acclaimed OK Computer and The Verve's Urban Hymns..."
