ALBUM: Idlewild - Hope Is Important (1998)

20 years ago this week on 19 October 1998, Scottish indie combo Idlewild released their debut full-length album 'Hope Is Important'.

Listen to the album in full below via YouTube. If you appreciate the music, we encourage you to support the artists by buying their music digitally or physically online or from your local record shop.

They had previously released a mini-album 'Captain', which saw the younger Idlewild kick up an angry storm of a sound. 'Hope Is Important' saw their raw edge combine with more melodic elements. It features four singles: the fierce 'Film For The Future', punk fireball 'Everyone Says You're So Fragile', the tunefully inviting 'I'm A Message' and the infectious punch of 'When I Argue I See Shapes'. A brilliantly dynamic album that sounds great two decades on.
