2016 has been a cruel year, and today there is another great artist to add to the list of those who passed away this year. The late Prince Buster was a hugely influential pioneer of the ska, bluebeat and rocksteady sound. Among his best known tracks include 'Al Capone' and 'One Step Beyond', a song which was brought to mainstream attention with Madness's cover version of the song. The aforementioned British band also named themselves after this 1963 track. In 2001, he was awarded the Order of Distinction by the Jamaican Government for his contribution to music. He passed away today (September 8) aged 78.
