A bit of Oasis today. Why? Why not?! Most bands save up their best songs for future albums and singles. During the 90s Oasis were on such a roll that they could afford to chuck tunes like the superb 'Listen Up' onto the B-sides of singles. This one was the third track on the 'Cigarettes And Alcohol' CD single, and like a lot of Noel Gallagher's best songs inspires the listener to hang on to their hopes and dreams. I love the lyric "I don't believe in magic, life is automatic".
In case you didn't know, Noel's excellent second solo album 'Chasing Yesterday' is out next week on March 2, and from today you can listen to the whole thing via iTunes HERE. He also gave a brilliant interview with Stereogum which can be found HERE.

For all of the duff album tracks Oasis had (and there were several), they had some fantastic B-sides, especially in the early days. Can you imagine if they had swapped out some of the weak album cuts for some of those b-sides? We'd be talking some nearly flawless albums!
