Today it was announced that Greek singer Demis Roussos had died aged 68. Roussos sold over 60 million records and was most famous for his solo hits during the 70s and 80s, but I know him best as a member of Aphrodite's Child. The psychedelic/progressive band released a double album in 1972 entitled '666', which featured this superb tune. This tune was clearly a heavy influence on The Verve, who echoed its melodies and chord progressions numerous times. Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft also ripped it off heavily for his 'Are You Ready' single from 2009. RIP Demis.
