REWIND: The Chemical Brothers - 'Life Is Sweet' (with Tim Burgess)

Where did I first hear The Chemical Brothers? On a dance compilation in the mid 90s. But I started becoming really interested in their music after their remix of The Charlatans 'Nine Acre Court' (renamed 'Nine Acre Dust' for the occasion) was featured on 'Select At The Heavenly Social', a free cassette given away with the July 1996 issue of the much-missed Select magazine. A few months later, and their awesome 'Setting Sun' collaboration with Noel Gallagher provided the duo with their first of two consecutive number one singles. I rented out a copy of 'Exit Planet Dust' from the local library, but the album didn't really hold my interest at the time. Perhaps I was stupidly expecting it to be packed full of guest vocalists from indie bands... Years later, and the 1995 debut sounds terrific. From it, here's 'Life Is Sweet', featuring the voice of Charlatans legend Tim Burgess. This reached number 25 in the UK Singles Chart, and features a Daft Punk remix of the song as one of the extra tracks on the CD single.
