REWIND: The Fall - 'Barmy'
Today is March 5th. Does this not strike you as a significant date? Well, today happens to be the 57th birthday of the man they call Mark E Smith, maverick genius and notorious leader of The Fall. Having been a Fall fan since the late 90's (thanks to John Peel of course), their workrate means that I am still only a short way through the mammoth Fall back catalogue and the other works that Smith has been involved in. From the seminal 1985 LP 'This Nation's Saving Grace' (the most recent Fall album I have added to my collection) here is the excellent and majorly catchy 'Barmy'. The album reached number 54 in the UK charts and is frequently cited as one of the group's strongest and most consistent works. Lots more on The Fall can be found by going HERE, where you will find a collection of all the articles RW/FF has on MES and his band...
Happy birthday Mark, and may happy returns!
