Unbelievable. Well not as unbelievable as it could have been, since there have been hints that this would be coming soon. But a whole 22 YEARS after the last album, My Bloody Valentine have finally released its very long awaited follow-up. Listen to this surprising new release via the YouTube playlist below...
The new LP is entitled 'MBV', and is available exclusively through the band's official website. The album is available in three formats - digital download, 180 gm vinyl (with immediate download) and CD (with immediate download). The physical formats will be mailed out on February 22nd , after the band have finalised the artwork.
The nine-track follow-up to 1991's 'Loveless', titled 'mbv', was released at midnight (GMT) on the evening of February 2 via a brand new website for the band. Shortly after, they posted all nine tracks on YouTube.
MBV mainman Kevin Shields said to the NME: “I think with this record, people who like us will immediately connect with something. Based on the very, very few people who’ve heard stuff – some engineers, the band, and that’s about it – some people think it’s stranger than Loveless. I don’t. I feel like it really frees us up, and in the bigger picture it’s 100 per cent necessary.”
Shields also has plans for an EP of new material, which will follow the album’s release.
