REWIND: Rage Against The Machine - Bulls On Parade

More wonderful music from 1996 as RW/FF takes you aboard a musical TARDIS on a journey through musical history. If you weren't around or were too young to remember the mid 90s, consider this a lesson of enlightenment. If you (like me) were lucky enough to experience it all first time around, then these posts are a fine nostalgic blast from the blast.

I know a lot of people who would love a new Rage Against The Machine album, but I get the impression that frontman Zack De La Rocha thinks it would be a backwards step. It's a blessing in disguise, since the situation has led to the rest of the band joining forces with Public Enemy legend Chuck D and Cypress Hill's B-Real to from the supergroup Prophets Of Rage. But today we go back to 1996 for a fine single from the second Rage album 'Evil Empire'. The hard hitting 'Bulls On Parade' features some meaty basslines as well as a superb guitar solo from Tom Morello which resembles turntable scratching. Apparently the band played this song on American TV show Saturday Night Live in April 1996, and were due to play another song. However the band were expelled from the building after hanging inverted American flags from their amplifiers.

The single reached number 8 in the UK singles charts.
