Track Of The Day: Primal Scream - 'Where The Light Gets In' (ft Sky Ferreira)

One of the most infectious songs of the year so far, this piece of synth-pop brilliance is taken from Primal Scream's recent LP 'Chaosmosis'. A far different beast from 2013's diverse, psychedelic 'More Light', the new album moves down more accessible melodic avenues, and is without a doubt a real grower of a record.

REWIND: Ocean Colour Scene - 'Lining Your Pockets'

This year marks 20 years since Ocean Colour Scene released their classic album 'Moseley Shoals'. The band will be playing the album in its entirety on tour throughout the year. From the LP here is the sublime 'Lining Your Pockets'.

Track Of The Day: James - 'Nothing But Love'

This stunning arms-aloft anthem is taken from the latest album from indie legends James. 'The Girl At The End Of The World' was released in March and entered the UK charts at number 2, and came very close to knocking Adele's '25' off the number one spot. James were actually number one in the midweek charts during the album's first week of release, 2,000 sales ahead of Adele.

REWIND: The Bluetones - 'Bluetonic'

Another classic album that turns 20 years old in 2016 is the debut full-length from The Bluetones. 'Expecting To Fly' was released in February 1996, and managed to knock Oasis's mammoth '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?' off the number 1 spot in the UK album charts, and ended up going platinum. From it, here is the wonderful 'Bluetonic'. After splitting up a few years ago, the band didn't take long to reunite for more gigs. A review of frontman Mark Morriss's solo album 'A Flash Of Darkness' can be found HERE, and photos of Morriss from 2012 can be found HERE.

Track Of The Day: Radiohead - 'Burn The Witch'

Featuring a video that suggests a strange hybrid of 'The Wicker Man' and 'Trumpton', Radiohead's recent single 'Burn The Witch' can be found on the rather brilliant new album 'A Moon Shaped Pool'. The LP went straight to number 1, shifting over 50,000 units despite only being available as a download at the moment. The vinyl and CD versions of the album are released on June 17.

REWIND: The Beach Boys - 'God Only Knows'

Today (May 16) marks the 50th anniversary of the legendary Beach Boys album 'Pet Sounds'. Way ahead of its time, the album wasn't a great commercial or critical success on its initial release, but over the years has become regarded as one of the all-time classics. Fro it here is the incredible 'God Only Knows', which features the late Carl Wilson on lead vocals.

Track Of The Day: The Stone Roses - 'All For One'

Finally, it has happened. After reforming in 2012, Manchester icons The Stone Roses have returned with their first new material in over 20 years. 'All For One' is rumoured to be the first taste of a brand new album from the band, which hopefully should see the light of day soon...

REWIND: Prince - 'Raspberry Beret (Live)'

As 2016 goes on we continue to lose more of our musical legends. Prince died aged 59 a few weeks ago, and a tribute post will follow soon on this site, for now here's a live version of this writer's favourite track from The Purple One. 'Raspberry Beret' can be found on the 1985 album 'Around The World In A Day'. A couple of years ago two of my fellow DJs at Melksham Town Sound were broadcasting a 3 hour marathon dedicated to the great man, where they played some of their favourite Prince tracks and discussed their love for the man's music. Cameron Bianchi and Joe Barter's Prince Xtravaganza can be heard in full on Mixcloud HERE.
