REWIND: Orbital - 'The Box' (Part I and II)

It's hard for me to believe that 1996 happened 20 years ago. Every day until the end of this year, RW/FF will be looking back two decades to remember all of the amazing music that was released that year. If you weren't around or were too young to remember the mid 90s, consider this a lesson of enlightenment. If you (like me) were lucky enough to experience it all first time around, then these posts make a fine nostalgic blast from the blast.

Today's track comes from the now defunct electronica/techno legends Orbital, who released their astonishing fourth album 'In Sides' in 1996. Considered by many (including myself') to be their finest work, the LP went to number 5 in the UK album charts. 'The Box' is the album's centrepiece, and still sounds incredible and vital twenty years on. The album version is different to the four-part version that is spread across four tracks on the CD single release of the song, which went to number 11 in the UK singles chart.
