REWIND: The Beloved - 'Satellite'

The weekend is upon us once again, and it's time for the traditional Friday Banger. The Beloved formed way back in 1983 after Jon Marsh and Steve Waddington joined two other musicians in an indie guitar orientated group who soon began playing with electronic sounds and dance vibes. The band soon became a duo of just Marsh and Waddington, who released the breakthrough number 29 hit 'The Sun Rising' in 1989. In 1991 Waddington left to be replaced by Marsh's wife Helena Rendall, and The Beloved scored their biggest hit 'Sweet Harmony', which reached number 8 in the UK charts. They returned in 1996 with the album 'X', from which the brilliant number 19 hit 'Satellite' is taken. I remember buying the cassette single from Woolworths in Devizes, possibly from the bargain bin. Although the band never officially split, there has been no new music since, but Wikipedia states that "Jon Marsh has collaborated with original band member Steve Waddington and others on new material, although as of June 2013 this remains in progress."
