I first heard of Apollo 440 back in the 90s when they scored a few big hits with 'Krupa', 'Ain't Talkin' Bout Dub' and 'Don't Stop The Rock'. But up until last night I was completely unaware of their brilliant 'Liquid Cool', a single from 1994, the original a 12 minute epic that featured on their debut album 'Millennium Fever'. The 'Kriece's Sub Zero Re-Edit' version was featured on Jason B's excellent Dance Class show last night, and after enquiring about the song, Jason alerted me to a Discogs page where I learned that Public Image Ltd bass legend Jah Wobble had remixed the song. Knowing that I HAD to check this bit of tuneage out, on my way home I listened to the track via YouTube on my phone, and was most impressed. So impressed that it's immediately featuring as today's Rewind selection. It begins calmy enough before slipping into a deep groove, and then bursting into a trippy psychedelic junglist rampage. Awesome. Jason B's Dance Class is on Melksham Town Sound every Monday night at 8pm, following my very own RW/FF Radio. His latest show (featuring lots of superb early 90s dance gems) can be heard HERE, and the show has its very own Facebook page HERE.
