SONG FOR TODAY: Ann Robinson - You Did It

Brilliant track that I discovered at about 6:30am this morning whilst listening to BBC 6Music. As soon as this song kicked in I instantly recognized that horn melody...

This track from Ann Robinson (not that ginger woman from The Weakest Link) was sampled by Fatboy Slim for his 1998 megahit 'Gangster Trippin'', a song which I was very keen on during the late 90's big beat explosion.

Amazing how much good music you can uncover through samples used in other songs...

Ann Robinson’s ‘You Did It’ is a Philadelphia funk tune originally released in 1969 on the All Brothers label, as a double A-side with a track by Freedom Now Brothers.

You can find ‘You Did It’ on the 'Sister Funk: Compiled By Ian Wright/the Sound of the Unknown Soul Sisters' on BBE Records. This track is a vocal version of 'Sissy Walk', a track by the Freedom Now Brothers...
